My best advise is to do as much research as possible. We started in an area with virtually no competitors and our market really didn't know much about the product, so we had to spend extra time and money educating people on this new concept in landscape edging. Also, understand that you will not be able to simply buy some equipment and start installing great looking curb. . . it takes practice so budget accordingly. If you decide to move forward with starting your own company, find a curber somewhere outside of your area and ask to tag along on a job or two. . .that way you can get a better idea of what you are in for before spending the money. If done correctly, it can be a fairly lucrative side business or a full time venture with great growth potential.
