Ok, maybe the curbing industury isn't quite as competitive as the gladiator specticle in ancient Rome, or the modern World Cup series. No one is being stabbed in disputes over who lays the best curb and we have yet to sign a deal with Nike to provide our workers with high performance curbing shoes. Competition, however, is heating up thanks to this wonderfully responsible piece of journalism. The Pulitzer Prize winning Toledo Blade ran an article on a company based 40 miles from toledo who recently bought into the Kwik Kerb franchise. We looked at Kwik Kerb while researching the biz and found them to be a bit steep on price and shallow on deliverables. I think it's great that someone picked up the franchise rights for this region, what I don't think is great is that the owners quoted "Estimated" gross sales for thier first year (right from the Kwik Kerb literature) and has since caused a mad dash akin to the 1849 gold rush of people trying to get into the curbing buisness here in the Toledo area.

For those of you looking to get into this business, I stand 100% behind you and your endevors, but please do your homework before jumping in. Realize that you will NOT gross a half million dollars your first year. If you decide to buy some equipment and try your hand at decorative landscape edging, please feel free to give us a call. We'll be happy to share our pricing philosophy and maybe even a few tips with you. This is still a very new product to the area and more curbers will only help educate the consumer base on the wonders of continuous concrete curbing.

My wife and I are contemplating buying a 3 year old landscape curbing business in Portland Oregon. We are naturally skeptical and would like your input in helping us make this decision. 503-901-4119

Hello Teresa,

Was reading through my daily newspaper (Borderlinestamp.com) and came across your posting about the database you keep in order to record data pertaining to each job you do. I just want to thank you for the idea. I was thinking about this last night and knew I had read through it before on Patrick’s website but had it in my mind to find it again. If your able to shed some more light on creating the database and have a few minutes please email me.

Thank you for your time.
